1st Feb

This week I helped Curtis record drums for his track , I mainly helped out by setting up mics and positioning them while we were taking levels to find the best sound, but I also had some input on how the mixer was set up for recording e.g what had low and high cuts. I took lots of pictures of how things were mic`ed up too so I will upload them soon. I was planning to do guide tracks for my other song this week but I havnt finished some parts of it e.g lead parts so I am going to wait until I do which will probably be next week. next week I am also helping dean record some acoustic guitar for his track.

I started guide tracking my guitars with Jason this week for my first track, we added midi drums to get a rough idea of how there going to flow with the track. I spent some time re writing the intro to the track because I didn’t like it very much and didn’t think it suited it well, I also added a few harmony parts I didn’t have before. Too record guitar we used the pod running through the line 6 amp because when we went through just the amp we got a buzz on the recording. We mic`ed the amp up by using 2 sm57s , one on the front and one on the back and it sounded fairly strong. I still need to sort some of the midi drum parts out because they didn’t fit the song as good as some other beat would so I plan to do that soon. Next week I plan to start recording my other songs guide tracks.
